Duration: March 2014 - July 2015

The objective of the WATERLENS project is to understand water boards and water companies’ needs to improve the monitoring, forecasting and/or control of availability and quality of raw and/or treated water. The project shall investigate new services to be developed to meet users’ needs with the aim to develop and maintain a resilient, cost-effective and sustainable water supply chain for public and private water providers, environmental agencies, the industrial/energy and agricultural sector and other water user groups. The development of new services comprises a technical fold and an economical fold, including the assessment of business opportunities. From a technical point of view the new services will be operated in an operational architecture, and the added value of space assets (e.g. Satcom, Satnav and Earth observation) will be evaluated.
