Project description

Duration: January 2002 - June 2016

The Environmental Data Explorer (EDE) Portal is the authoritative source for data sets used by UNEP and its partners in the Global Environment Outlook (GEO) report and other integrated environment assessments. Its online database holds more than 400 different variables, as national, subregional, regional and global statistics or as geospatial data sets (maps), covering themes like Freshwater, Population, Forests, Emissions, Climate, Disasters, Health and GDP. Display them on-the-fly as maps, graphs, raw values or download the data in different formats.
The EDE is a Spatial Data Infrastructure which includes a database and set of webservices to serve data and indicators in the form of tables, graphs and maps. This is a core tool for populating UNEP-Live with data and information relevant to the various UNEP mandates and more specifically for environmental assessments. This tool is available to all users.
