Caloric intake data for 1970-90 are based on FAO statistics (FAO, 1992) and projected for 1990-2050. Vegetable products include temperate cereals, rice, maize, tropical cereals, roots and tubers, pulses, oil crops, and others; animal products include meat from cattle, pigs, sheep, and goats, meat and eggs from poultry, and milk from cattle.
