Early Warning Disaster Risk Index (DRI)
Disaster Risk Index
UNEP/GRID-Europe
was mandated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP),
Bureau for Crisis Reduction and Recovery, for developping the Disaster
Risk Index (DRI). From UNDP request, the DRI should be based on
existing data, computed scientifically and allows comparison between
countries and hazards.
The Index was published in 2004 in the report "Reducing Disaster
Risk: A Challenge for Development"

Reports on the development of the DRI
The Development of the DRI was spread over three years (2001 -
2003) and published by UNDP in February 2004. The project was entitled
"Global Risk And Vulnerabitliy Index Trend per Year (GRAVITY).
Four technical reports are available and numerous articles (see
below).
